Mr Kevin Kenrick has been appointed an independent non-executive director of BNZ, effective 1 July 2016.

Chairman Doug McKay said he was delighted to welcome Mr Kenrick on behalf of the BNZ board.

“To appoint a board member of Kevin’s calibre is a welcome addition to the bank’s governance.  He is a seasoned executive and marketer with an understanding of industries experiencing significant disruption through digital channels. He understands how it impacts the customer experience,” said Mr McKay.   Mr Kenrick is currently Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Television New Zealand Limited, and prior to that was CEO for House of Travel. He has held senior management positions with Telecom NZ (now Spark) including Chief Operating Officer for the mass market retail business division.

“I’m attracted to industries undergoing transformation and businesses that make a difference to the lives of New Zealanders. Digital disruption will definitely create challenges and opportunities for the banking industry, and I can think of few industries that impact the personal and business lives of New Zealanders as much as banking,” said Mr Kenrick.

“BNZ has an impressive history of serving New Zealanders over the last 150 years and I look forward to learning more about the business and contributing to its future success.”
