BNZ appoints Simon Kwan Executive, Operational Excellence

Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) has appointed Simon Kwan as Executive, Operational Excellence.

Simon joins BNZ from Commonwealth Bank of Australia where he has been General Manager Home Buying Process and Operations. Before that he was Executive Manager Group Operations at Westpac Australia having held a number of positions in the bank previously.

BNZ CEO Dan Huggins says, “Simon has extensive experience in the banking sector and a proven record in delivering innovation and process improvements for customers and colleagues.

“As Executive Operational Excellence, Simon will be working closely with our Technology and Partnership Banking teams to drive a culture of innovation and deliver market leading customer experiences across our home and business lending operations.

“Simon is an experienced banking executive whose expertise will be a great benefit to BNZ and I look forward to working with him,” says Huggins.

Simon is a returning New Zealander and will join BNZ in January next year subject to regulatory approval.

 

About Simon Kwan

Simon is an experienced senior executive with a proven record of delivery across a broad range of business disciplines and particularly in retail banking. As General Manger, Home Buying Process and Operations at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Simon was responsible for the end-to-end home buying process within CBA’s Retail Bank. As well as leading the home buying product operations he was responsible for leading the process improvement team and investment portfolio and was the executive accountable for Residential Mortgage Group, a wholly owned Mortgage Product owned by CBA with a portfolio balance of $8bn.

Prior to CBA Simon was the Executive Manager of St George Mortgages at Westpac Group and held a variety of positions within the Group including mortgage and sales and service management in its New Zealand subsidiary.
